Scotty McCreery outperforms 3 previous American Idol winners for selling 197,000 copies of his debut album “Clear As Day” last week, landing him at #1 on the Billboard 200.
Scotty is the youngest country act to open at #1 with their first release, and at 18, the youngest man to open at the top of the chart with their debut release.
He is also the first American Idol winner since Ruben Studdard in 2003 to open at #1 with their initial album.
Scotty bested the debuts of Kris Allen (80,000), Lee DeWyze (39,000) and Jordin Sparks (119,000).
